Yesterday, ICS London proudly participated in Les Joutes Oratoires Lycéennes, a prestigious French debating competition that welcomes sixth form students from across the country. This annual event attracts hundreds of young French learners eager to refine their linguistic skills in a dynamic and intellectual setting.

Hosted at the esteemed St Paul's Girls' School in Hammersmith, the competition is a highlight of the academic year for aspiring debaters. This marks the second consecutive year that ICS London has taken part in the competition, and it was an even greater success than the previous year. Our Year 12 students demonstrated remarkable confidence and eloquence, showcasing their growing talent in public speaking. Their performance reflected both their dedication and the school’s commitment to fostering a culture of articulate expression and critical thinking.

The motions debated this year were particularly thought-provoking, covering topics such as the use of AI in schools, the effects of gentrification, and the power of diplomacy in resisting stronger nations. Competing entirely in French, our students mastered the art of argumentation, constructing compelling points and engaging in lively discussions with their peers from other schools.

Winning such a competition requires perseverance and skill, and while victory takes time, we are committed to strengthening our abilities year after year. At ICS London, we strive to build a culture where oracy and diplomacy thrive, equipping our students with the linguistic and analytical tools needed for success on both academic and global stages.

Congratulations to all our participants. We look forward to next year’s challenge!
