We are delighted to share that a group of our students recently took part in the Globeducate Academic Olympics, an inspiring annual event that brings together talented young thinkers from across the Globeducate network. This year’s competition was hosted by our sister schools ICS Milan and BES, who provided an exceptional environment for collaboration, creativity, and innovation.

The theme of the 2025 Academic Olympics was "Sustainable Cities", challenging students to imagine forward-thinking urban environments that address the environmental, social, and technological needs of the future. Our students were partnered with peers from ICS Paris, forming a dynamic international team that combined ideas, skills, and cultural perspectives.

Together, the team developed a remarkable sustainable city concept that stood out amongst the many impressive projects presented during the competition. Their design went on to win the award for "Most Innovative Design".

The judges were particularly impressed by the team’s bold and imaginative approach to sustainability. One of the standout elements of their project was the decision to place all data servers underground. This ingenious solution not only reduced visual and spatial impact but also cleverly harnessed the heat generated by the servers to support energy needs within the city.

By elevating the city structure itself, the students created the opportunity for the land below to be returned to fallow and rewilding, supporting biodiversity and restoring natural ecosystem processes. This integration of technology, ecological restoration, and architectural design demonstrated an exceptional level of forward-thinking and environmental awareness.

We could not be prouder of our students for their creativity, teamwork, and dedication. Their collaboration with ICS Paris and their success on the international stage reflect the values at the heart of our school community: curiosity, global citizenship, and a commitment to building a better future.

Congratulations to all involved, and thank you to ICS Milan and BES for hosting an unforgettable event. We look forward to next year’s Academic Olympics and to seeing where our students’ ideas will take them next.
