Secondary school parents, students, and teachers gathered at Hyde Park last week to participate in the highly anticipated annual Charity Dog Walk, an event that brought together families, pets, and the wider community to raise funds for a heart-warming cause. The initiative supports a charity dedicated to providing therapy dogs to schools and other organisations, a service that has proven to greatly enhance emotional support and wellbeing in educational and therapeutic environments.
With the sun shining brightly, our students, staff, parents and four-legged friends enjoyed the beautiful weather as they took a scenic walk along Hyde Park’s iconic Serpentine lake. The event was a lively mix of wagging tails, laughter, and plenty of photo-worthy moments, as the community united in their mission to make a positive difference.
The Charity Dog Walk not only provided an opportunity for exercise and connection but also emphasised the significant impact therapy dogs can have on mental health and emotional well-being. By integrating therapy dogs into schools, students benefit from the calming presence and companionship these animals provide, helping reduce stress, anxiety, and fostering a sense of comfort in educational settings.
Here at ICS London, we are lucky enough to have our very own furry friend, Mr. Somtam! Belonging to Mr. Mark and Ms. Clara, Mr. Somtam visits our campus quite regularly and can often be found seeking out a cuddle from students and staff! Be sure to give him a scratch behind the ears when you see him!
