Two of our Year 12 students recently travelled to France to take part in the annual Globeducate Model United Nations (MUN), accompanied by Ms Ilaria. The event provided an enriching opportunity for students to collaborate with peers from around the world while exploring some of today’s most pressing global issues.

Hosted by the International School of Nice and Mougins School, the conference welcomed more than 150 students from Globeducate schools worldwide. Over the course of the event, participants represented different countries within a range of committees, engaging in formal debates, negotiating solutions, and drafting resolutions on complex international topics.

Model United Nations encourages students to step into the role of diplomats, developing key skills such as public speaking, negotiation, research, and critical thinking. Throughout the conference, students worked collaboratively to present their assigned countries’ perspectives while also learning to navigate differing viewpoints in order to reach consensus.

Reflecting on the experience, one of our students shared:

"The MUN event was a unique to experience, allowing us to meet many new people from different countries and to be part of various committees. Within our committees, we had to make resolutions which required for us to think about our countries as well as looking past the differences of others. We also had to make lots of speeches in a limited time, making us think about time management as well as think critically. During the crisis event, we had to think on our feet and do a lot of improvising as there was limited time to prepare. It was truly a once in a lifetime event."

The event was not only an opportunity to develop academic and leadership skills, but also to build lasting international connections with fellow students across the Globeducate network.

We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented our school throughout the conference and look forward to participating in the Globeducate Model United Nations again next year.
