Beyond the Classroom

While our academic standards are second to none, learning is about much more than what happens in the classroom. In helping our students become global citizens who will shape the world, we encourage them to step beyond the academic curriculum to find activities that will aid in their development as excellent people and better prepare them for the world of tomorrow. Wherever a student's interests lie, ICS London offers activities to stimulate and engage and also introduces new activities to inspire. 

Our Student Council provides the opportunity for students to take an active role in key decisions affecting their school lives and driving our celebrations, charitable events and competitions. 

The Model United Nations group helps develop a global perspective. 

Our Primary and Secondary Football clubs are popular and always looking to recruit more players! Table tennis has taken off at ICS London with healthy inter-house competitions and an informal daily challenge league hotly contested. 

Some students who attend ICS London are involved at a high level of sport for their country and we fully support and celebrate their training and competition participation while ensuring an academic programme that complements their sport. 

A number of opportunities are presented to us at ICS London and staff then work with a group of students to participate. Examples this year include an art and design project for a local 5* hotel, debating, vising the Institut Francais, Cut your Carbon and a tour at Highgate Cemetery. 

All students at ICS London have had a workshop learning to play steel pans together. 

For many in our community, volunteering and giving are important. Throughout the year there are various events that students, staff and families participate in to help others. These include our popular charity dog walk, Wear it Pink day and Christmas food and toy hampers. Student council select the charities we support and plan the events. 

ICS London runs an instrumental programme for all students from year 3 to year 9. As part of that there is a chance to perform at our termly recitals to parents, friends and staff. This is a great way to demonstrate the IB attribute of risk taker but also provides a focus for practice and progress. 

ICS London also works with Arts International to deliver a performing arts programme for students on the primary campus and in Years 7-9. They work on acting, singing, creating and devise a show to perform to families. 

This provides a taste of the opportunities students have to develop their place as World Citizens.
